Good news and bad news out of L.A. for vampire fans.
GOOD
If you haven’t heard about it yet, you soon will. Johnny Depp last year bought the rights to the classic, groovy-age horror-soap Dark Shadows, and intends to play anti-hero and vampire Barnabas Collins.
Sounds cool to me — just make it scary as hell, and it’ll make a hell of a lot of money.
BAD
The original producers of the 1992 feature Buffy the Vampire Slayer still own the rights . . . and they’re planning on making a new movie, so far without any input at all from Buffy creator, writer, and showrunner Joss Whedon.
That, as far as I’m concerned, is a major pile o’suckage — as will be the movie.
Heya
Johnny Depp is going to be Edward Vampire-hands? I think the obvious choice for Barnabas is either Bill Irwin OR Schwarzenneger. As for ‘Buffy never dies’, why dont we resurrect “The Night Stalker” or something that had an edge BEFORE its time.

Damn straight! Remake the original Night Stalker tv-movie (based on the then-unpublished novel) and turbo-boost it for the 21st century. Forget the canceled series a few seasons ago ever happened.
This one source is the movie that created vampires hissing evilly — which they still do in movies and on tv today.
